Of course Congress has been pretty busy lately. When not holding perfectly timed hearings on steroid use during the start of the pro baseball season, they've been busy trying to circumvent seven years of court rulings in the case of Terry Schiavo. There is another election coming in 2006, so this is not at all surprising. I am extremely disappointed that they have chosen this agenda, especially when there are more important issues like fixing the social security system which will cease to function as a tax and wealth transfer mechanism about the time I'm about ready to have some wealth transferred back my way in retirement. Hey - at least it will stay around long enough for me to keep paying into the system, keeping my boomer friends and the greatest generation in good shape. What's this have to do with baseball? Well, sports are a religion in this country, and therefore the opiate of the masses.
